‘First Apple Silicon iMac will appear in the second half of 2021’

Apple will release the first iMac with its own ARM chip in the second half of next year. Apple also makes the graphics processor itself.

‘First iMac with Apple Silicon at the end of 2021’

The iMac would become the first desktop computer to feature Apple’s own chip. Apple Silicon, as Apple has called the chip, ensures that the iMac gets better performance and uses less energy than the Intel chips that are now in iMacs. Now it appears that Apple not only makes its own CPU but that it is also working on its own GPU: a graphics processor.

Insiders report that the production of the GPU, codenamed Lifuka, is steadily going. Apple uses the same process for this as for the A14X processor. That processor was made by TSMC and is most likely also in the iPhone 12 . Because the new graphics processor provides better performance, the iMac could run even better software and games.apple-silicon-imac rumor

iMac will not be the first device with Apple Silicon

During WWDC last June, Apple announced that it would end its collaboration with Intel for its processors. Tim Cook’s company will use its own Apple Silicon chip to ensure that devices can cope with heavy programs even better and also become more energy efficient.

Rumor has it, however, that we still have to be patient until the powerful iMac hits the market. Apple would not release the iMac with its own chip and GPU until the second half of 2021.

Fortunately, we don’t have to wait until the end of 2021 for the first Apple device with Apple Silicon to appear. Today, another rumor about Silicon appeared. Apple would be about to unveil a new MacBook that runs on Silicon. The MacBook would weigh less than a kilo and get a scissor keyboard.
