ASUS ROG Phone 3 official: gaming phone with 144 Hz screen

ASUS ROG Phone 3 has been launched. It’s a powerful flagship made for gaming that comes with a range of accessories. The phone also gives you control over the screen, performance, sound, and charging.

THE ROG Phone 3 ASUS recently launched, and you can best describe as a gaming phone that does very certain areas think of a gaming PC. First of all, there is the back which is made of glass and the ROG logo on the back also comes with RGB lighting again.

Under the hood of this powerful gaming phone is the new Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, which comes with an increased clock speed of 3.09 GHz. ROG Phone 3 also gives gamers control over that clock speed, just like a PC. In addition, there are different storage variants: 12 GB / 128 GB, 12 GB / 256 GB, 12 GB / 512 GB and 16 GB / 512 GB. ASUS uses the fast UFS 3.1 storage.

Finally, there is a cheaper ‘Strix Edition’ of this phone that comes with 8 GB / 256 GB and the regular Snapdragon 865. The phone does take over all other specifications of the regular ROG Phone 3.ROG Phone 3

ASUS continues to bet on a large 6000 mAh battery and you can charge it with the 30-watt fast charger. Remember when we said that this phone likes to give its user a lot of control? This is also the case for charging, because you can choose to stop charging at 80 percent or 90 percent.

You can also limit the charging power to 10 watts so that your phone is just fully charged when you wake up. ASUS ROG Phone 3 comes with Android 10 and two different launchers: the ROG UI and ZenUI.

Camera and accessories

Which brings us to the camera, which is usually seen by manufacturers as a minor aspect of gaming phones. This time, there is a 64 MP main camera, followed by a 13 MP wide-angle camera and a 5 MP macro camera.

At the front is a 24 MP selfie camera. The ROG Phone also comes with a fan of accessories specially designed for the phone. First, you have AeroActive Cooler that comes with the phone.

It is a fan that helps cool the vapor chamber cooling system of this phone. A vapor chamber cooling is a tube cooling known from gaming PCs. You also have the TwinView Dock 3, which is a case in which you place the phone that adds a one-second screen. The dock contains a 5000 mAh battery and with the second screen, you can keep an eye on a live stream while gaming.

The second screen also has the same size and refresh rate as the phone’s screen. In addition, there is the ROG Kunai 3 controller that works similarly to the Joy-Con controllers of the Nintendo Switch console. You place them on either side of the phone or with the two controllers you make one large controller that you hold in both hands.

availabilty

The price of the ASUS ROG Phone 3 varies between the different models. The cheaper Strix Edition of this phone is available from 799 euros, while the most expensive storage variant with 16 GB / 512 GB costs 1099 euros. The ASUS ROG Phone 3 will not be officially for sale in the Netherlands due to a patent issue with Philips. ROG Phone 3 has Google Stadia pre-installed and the phone comes with Stadia Pro for three months.
