Asus will also return in 2021 with the Zenfone series and will probably do so with two phones, the Zenfone 8 ‘Mini’ and the Zenfone 8 Flip. Even before the official launch of Asus’ Zenfone 8, all specifications of the phone were leaked on Friday – including additional details about the 5.92-inch screen and the camera sensors used.
Asus Zenfone 8
Asus introduced a flip mechanism for the Zenfone 6 for the first time, where the phones’ cameras were mounted on a mechanism that could be flipped up to use the sensors on the back of the Zenfone as selfie cameras. Last year the mechanism returned to the Zenfone 7 and the technology is also making its return on the Zenfone 8. This time Asus even developed a specific device in the Zenfone 8 series for the flip mechanism – the Zenfone 8 Flip. In addition, Asus releases the regular Zenfone 8, without such a special camera module. Specifications of Asus’ regular Zenfone 8 were leaked on Friday.

Under the skin, the Asus Zenfone 8, just like the screen, is a high-end phone. For example, the Zenfone 8 uses the Snapdragon 888 chipset and Asus delivers up to 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage memory. Under the hood, we also find a 4,000 mAh battery that can be charged with a maximum of 30 watts. Finally, on the back, we find the well-known 64 MP sensor from Sony: the IMX686. The main camera is supplemented by a 12 MP wide-angle camera that also functions as a macro camera.
Stuff listing supplemented the display’s specifications and internal hardware with details about the 3.5mm jack on Zenfone 8, as well as the microphones used. According to the rumor, the phone’s headphone jack provides a ‘Hi-Fi’ sound. As far as the microphones are concerned, the Taiwanese manufacturer will use the OZO Audio technology in combination with 3 microphones. With OZO Audio, a technique from Nokia, it is possible to make 360-degree audio recordings.

The above details are of course rumors. For the time being, take them with the necessary grains of salt. Asus will launch the Zenfone 8 series on Wednesday, May 12.
