Are you on a budget and looking for a simple smartphone? For a maximum of 150 euros, you get a great device at home. Tech largest lists the five best smartphones under 150 euros.
The best smartphones under 150 euros
A smartphone for WhatsApp, simple games, and following the news really does not have to cost three hundred euros or more. You can get a great device for 100 to 150 euros. Not only do you save money, but you also avoid a BKR registration when you buy such a device with a subscription. That is nice, because a BKR registration has a negative impact on your creditworthiness and therefore, among other things, the amount of your mortgage.
Which affordable smartphones are worth considering? Below we will discuss in random order the five smartphones under 150 euros that we recommend. We regularly update this buying guide, most recently in June 2020.
1. Motorola One Macro
The Motorola One Macro is a beautiful smartphone price € 138.00 with a 6.2-inch HD screen and fingerprint scanner. On the back is a triple camera, which is more extensive than usual. The device has a fast processor with a large 4GB RAM and no less than 64B storage memory. You can enlarge this with a micro-SD memory card.
The smartphone runs on almost stock Android, but keep in mind that Motorola’s update policy isn’t that good. More positive is the battery life from a long day to three days, depending on your use.
You can buy the Motorola One Macro with a subscription and of course, it is also possible to purchase the One Macro separately. Knowing more? Read our extensive Motorola One Macro review.
2. Nokia 2.3
With the Nokia 2.3, you buy an affordable smartphone with Android One software as the biggest asset price € 115.00. The device runs stock Android and receives two years of version updates and three years of regular security updates. Almost no competitive smartphone offers that guarantee. The Nokia 2.3 is thus prepared for Android 11.
The smartphone has a relatively large 6.2-inch HD screen and a 13-megapixel camera, supplemented by a depth sensor. This is how you take portrait photos. The battery capacity is remarkably large with 4000 mAh, and enough for two to three days of use. Unfortunately, charging is slow and via an outdated micro-USB port. A fingerprint scanner is missing. The smartphone runs on a reasonable processor with a large 32GB storage memory.
3. Xiaomi Redmi 8A
You may not know Xiaomi, but the Chinese brand is one of the largest smartphone brands in the world. The company is also working hard in the world. The Redmi 8A is a good example of a device that offers a price of € 114.00 a lot for little. The smartphone is especially notable for its huge 5000 mAh battery; good for at least two days of intensive use. If you slow down, three or four days is possible.
The box contains a relatively fast 10 Watt plug, but if you arrange an 18 Watt plug yourself, charging is even faster. The Redmi 8A has a 6.2-inch HD screen, a 12-megapixel camera on the back, and runs on a reasonable processor. The storage memory measures 32GB, which is large enough for many apps, games, and photos. The smartphone will receive updates from Xiaomi for a few years, although the brand does not make any hard statements about this.
4. Alcatel 1SE (2020)
The Alcatel 1SE (2020) is an affordable device with excellent specifications. The device runs on Android 10, has a fingerprint scanner, and has three cameras on the back. In addition to normal photos, the triple camera also makes wide images (wide angle) and images up close (macro).
The 1SE (2020) is equipped with a 6.22-inch HD screen, a large 4000 mAh battery, and 32GB storage memory. This is sufficient for normal use. Do you need more storage space? Then you put a micro SD memory card in the smartphone. Make sure that the device works properly, but is not the fastest.
5. Samsung Galaxy A20e
The Samsung Galaxy A20e is a complete smartphone with a sharp price of € 141.00 tag. The plastic housing is nice and light and the 5.8-inch HD screen makes the Galaxy A20e more compact than many competitors.
The device has a fingerprint scanner and, thanks to the 3000 mAh battery, easily lasts a full day. Charging is fast enough. The smartphone uses two cameras on the back: a normal and wide-angle lens for photos that fit more.
The storage memory is 32GB and that is common in this price segment. The Galaxy A20e is equipped with Samsung’s user-friendly OneUI software and will receive updates until the beginning of 2022. The device will therefore certainly last a while.
Savings: handy or not?
In this overview, we discuss the best smartphones under 150 euros. They offer great value for money, but of course, make compromises to get to that low price. Depending on your wishes and budget, it can, therefore, pay to spend a few tens more and buy a device of about 200 euros.
