The European Union was due to announce the arrival of an app that works as a digital wallet on Wednesday, according to the Financial Times . Residents of the EU could pay via this app and save login details.
EU residents now still have to enter various login details at governments and companies. The arrival of the digital wallet should put an end to this. The app should give citizens access to multiple websites via one login.
The digital wallet also gives citizens the opportunity to pay bills such as an energy bill. Furthermore, it would be possible to store important documents such as your passport or driver’s license.
Terms and security
The app is said to be secured via the fingerprint scanner or an eye scan, and its use is voluntary. The European member states and Brussels are discussing the standards that the app must meet. For example, the EU does not want companies to use the app for advertisements.
According to the Financial Times, the development of the app will take about another year and can already be used by EU citizens. What do you think of this idea of the EU? Would you use the app? Let us know in the comments below this article.
