Garmin has quietly announced the Forerunner 45 Plus. This is an affordable sports watch with a number of extras compared to the Forerunner 45.
Garmin Forerunner 45 Plus
The Garmin Forerunner 45 Plus is, as the name suggests, a renewed version of the Garmin Forerunner 45 with two extra functions for a lower price. It is an entry-level sports watch for the novice runners. The Forerunner 45 Plus comes with built-in GPS, heart rate sensor, is waterproof to 50 meters (5 ATM) and can display notifications from your smartphone.
The Forerunner 45 Plus has a 1.04-inch screen with a resolution of 208 x 208 pixels. The dimensions of the watch are 42 x 42 x 11.4 mm. The battery lasts 7 days in smartwatch mode and 13 hours in GPS mode.
Naturally, the sports watch also collects all kinds of information about you, such as your calories burned, your sleep, stress, your fitness age, your VO2max and your Body Battery. Of course, data from your training is also used for this.
New are the functions Race Predictor and Recovery Time Advisor. Both statistics are based on heart rate data and are derived from Firstbeat’s heart rate variability algorithms. Firstbeat is a provider of physiological analytics and statistics for consumer devices, and Garmin acquired this company last month.
Buy Garmin Forerunner 45 Plus
The Forerunner 45 Plus is currently only available on the English website. Here the watch is offered for £ 139.99. That is converted to about 162 euros. With that, the Forerunner 45 Plus competes with the Polar Unite and the Fitbit Charge 4.
Both cost 150 euros. We asked Garmin Nederland if this sports watch is also coming to the Benelux. As soon as we have a response, we will update this article.
