Huawei quietly releases P Smart in (2020)

Huawei recently released the P Smart (2020) quietly in the Netherlands. The device has not been officially announced for the market but is for sale at many webshops.

The Android P Smart (2020) can also be found on the Dutch website of the manufacturer, Tech largest discovered. The budget smartphone is sold for 199 euros and is available in three colors: black, blue, and green. The P Smart (2020) is available separately or in combination with a subscription.

It is striking that Huawei never officially announced the release of the P Smart (2020). At the end of April, Tech largest reported that the smartphone had appeared at a webshop and is now available at many shops. It is unclear how long the P Smart (2020) has been in stock at the webshops.

The P Smart (2020) is the successor to last year ‘s popular P Smart (2019) and is very similar to its predecessor. The smartphone has more working and storage memory (4GB + 128GB vs 3GB + 64GB) than its predecessor but is otherwise identical. Even the outdated micro USB connection of the P Smart (2019) has not been replaced by a more modern USB-C port.

Because the P Smart (2020) is a P Smart (2019) with some minor adjustments, the phone has a Google certification. As a result, you can simply use apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube and Google Keep on the device, unlike, for example, the P40 Lite. The smartphone runs on the old Android 9.0 (Pie) and it is unclear whether and when Huawei will release an Android 10 update.Huawei quietly releases P Smart

Furthermore, the P Smart (2020) is equipped with a 6.21-inch screen with a resolution of 2340 by 1080 pixels. The screen edges are thin, although there is a thick ‘chin’ at the bottom. At the top of the display is a small notch for the 8-megapixel selfie camera. There are two cameras on the back: a primary 13-megapixel lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portrait photos.

The battery is – just like its predecessor – 3400 mAh and does not support fast charging. Charging, on the other hand, is done with a slower 10 Watt adapter. The P Smart (2020) does have a headphone jack and a fingerprint scanner on the back.
