DisplayMate’s annual screen test has a new number one. The large screen of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the best screen they have ever tested, according to the website.
iPhone 12 Pro Max screen test breaks records
In DisplayMate’s extensive screen test, the largest iPhone of 2020 does better than that of 2019. In fact, the iPhone 12 Pro Max sets a new record in eleven categories.
The test thus mainly shows the versatility of the new screen. The eleven areas on which the device scores best are as follows:
- Accuracy of colors
- Accuracy of contrast
- Accuracy in color changes
- Accuracy in contrast intensity
- Changes in light and dark
- Brightness of the screen
- Contrast in ambient light
- Contrast Ratio
- Screen reflection
- Brightness from different viewing angles
- Screen resolution
While DisplayMate often gives the iPhone this kind of high score, the Pro Max is the first in years to break so many records. In comparison, the iPhone 11 Pro Max set nine records last year and the iPhone XS Max broke eight a year earlier.
What can Apple still improve on the iPhone screen
It is not surprising that this year’s iPhones are doing better than last year’s, but it is striking that despite the fierce competition, Apple still comes out best in the test. Despite these high scores in terms of screen, the iPhone 12 models at least lack one feature: a 120Hz display.
Despite all the rumours about this screen with a higher refresh rate (which ensures smoother animations), Apple would have decided at the last minute not to implement the technology. Despite the many records, the Pro Max breaks this year, there is still plenty of room for improvement.
