OPPO will propose the Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro in China next week. In the run-up to the launch, we get to see renders and specifications, and then we learn the phones have a ‘glow in the dark’ design.
OPPO Reno 5 series
The Reno 4 series was announced in the Netherlands this fall, but the phones were available in China from June. A successor is also expected, and it will be announced in China next Thursday on December 10. We expect a Reno and Reno 5 Pro.
In the meantime, the devices have already been leaked through a Chinese webshop (in Chinese) where you can already reserve them. So we get to see both renders and some of the specifications about the phones. The phones appear with a small camera notch and are rumoured to have a special design that glows in the dark. We’ve only seen that once and that was with the Wiko View 3 range. In the top, left corner and both also have a camera with four sensors. The two smartphones will be set up with a 64 MP, 8 MP and two 2 MP cameras.
Performance and battery
The devices each have 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage or 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. When it comes to performance further, the Reno 5 has a Snapdragon 765G processor, while the Pro version uses a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset. They both come with 5G internet.
If we look at the screen, we find on the Reno 5 a 6.43 in OLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The Pro variant, on the other hand, has a larger 6.55-inch panel with curved edges and the same refresh rate. The Reno 5 Pro gets a 4350 mAh battery and a powerful 65-watt charger.
