Polar has announced the successor to its Vantage V sports watch. It is the Polar Vantage V2, another multisport expert with a number of new functions.
Polar Vantage V2
Last year, Polar launched two sports watches, the Vantage M and the more expensive Vantage V. The Polar Vantage V is therefore the hobbyhorse of the Finnish wearable manufacturer. It is a premium sports watch for multi-sport and triathlon training. Polar is now announcing the successor to this hobbyhorse, the Vantage V2. The Polar Vantage V2 is the same price as its predecessor and gets a number of new features.
The Polar Vantage V2 focuses on signals that the body gives and then offers insights that can help you plan your workouts better, train smarter and recover more efficiently. The balance between training and recovery is central to this. Just like its predecessor, the sports watch comes with personal measurements of heart rate, sleep, calories and well-known functions such as FitSpark, running power via the wrist, Recovery Pro and Training Load Pro.
The watch also comes with functions that Polar introduced with the Polar Grit X (429.90 euros): such as turn-by-turn voice navigation via Komoot, weather forecasts (current weather information and a two-day forecast), Hill Splitter and FuelWise. In addition, the Vantage V2 takes over the color themes of the cheaper Unite.
The Polar Vantage V2 is 21% lighter than its predecessor and weighs 52 grams. Just like the Grit X, the battery of the sports watch lasts up to 40 hours in full training mode (GPS and heart rate measurement on the wrist) and even up to 100 hours with various energy-saving functions. Long training sessions such as an (ultra) trail run are therefore also suitable.
Performance testing for running and cycling
Polar also adds new possibilities. There are the ‘Running and Cycling Performance’ tests. With these performance tests you can provide insight into your heart rate, speed and strength. This allows the progress to be tracked even better.
Leg Recovery is also a new functionality. This allows the user to optimize training without additional sensors. Leg Recovery connects seamlessly with pre-existing features, such as Training Load Pro and Recovery Pro, to help users understand how their bodies respond to exercise and when the user is ready for more.
The Polar Vantage V2 also comes with a much-requested feature: music controls. Although you cannot save music tracks on the device yet. The Polar watch connects to the music app on your smartphone, so you can control your music without taking your smartphone out. In addition, the new weather and telephone notifications can be found.
The Polar Flow ecosystem includes tools for planning and tracking your workouts, activities and sleep. Polar has added the new Test Hub to this system. Test Hub collects all your test data in one place for easy analysis and better insight into your progress.
