Samsung releases One UI 3.1 update for Galaxy S20 FE (5G variant first)

Samsung today releases the Galaxy S20 FE update to One UI 3.1 – that of the Galaxy S21. You can already install it on the 5G model in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Galaxy S20 FE update: One UI 3.1 in the Netherlands

After the release of the Galaxy S21 series, it soon became clear that One UI 3.1 will also come to other Samsung phones. The first Galaxy to receive this upgrade turned out to be a tablet: the Galaxy Tab S7 now runs on Android 11 and One UI 3.1. And now it’s the turn of the first phone.Samsung releases One UI 3.1 update for Galaxy S20 FE (5G first)

Today the One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy S20 FE will start. For the 5G model, the update to firmware version G781BXXU2CUB5 is now available for download, in the form of a more than 1700MB heavy pack. It is the letter ‘C’ that here reveals that it is not just a normal update, but a larger upgrade – in this case of the One UI interface.

Last week we already highlighted two features that are part of One UI 3.1. The clock gets a new bedtime setting, and you can connect DeX wirelessly to your PC, even without Miracast. In addition, we also see that zooming in low light should yield better photos, and the Gallery app can automatically ‘remaster’ old photos.

Furthermore, the update also includes the February security patch, which also came to the Galaxy S20 FE with 4G last week. However, this update did not contain One UI 3.1 on that device.

As always, keep in mind that such a major upgrade will increase energy consumption for some time. Only when the system has re-optimized itself – after a few hours or days – will battery usage return to normal.

availabilty

You can now download the One UI 3.1 OTA if you have the Dutch or Belgian, unbranded Galaxy S20 FE with 5G (SM-G781B).

Do you have the 4G model (SM-G780F)? Then you also have to wait and see. Although the device – as said – already received the update from February, One UI 3.1 will apparently roll out through a separate upgrade.

In any case, you will automatically receive a notification as soon as the update is ready for your phone. And do you want to check availability yourself? Then you do that via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install .

Do you already have One UI 3.1 on your Galaxy S20 FE? Did everything go well, or do you unexpectedly encounter new bugs?
