Xiaomi’s Redmi 9 series, not to be confused with the Redmi Note 9, is said to be about to launch in Eastern markets. More and more specifications of the device leaked and this time a Filipino web store, with its product pages, is adding the icing on the cake.
Xiaomi Redmi 9 (Pro)
In October 2019, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 8, a mid-range device that operates just below the Redmi Note 8. A successor to the low-end phone is said to be ready for the unveiling and a web store in the Philippines has provided the necessary evidence for this:
The device is known as the Xiaomi Redmi 9 specifications and bears the design of the Redmi Note 8 Pro. On the back, we find a vertical camera module that we recognize from the Redmi Note 8 Pro, with a fingerprint scanner under the cameras and on the right side of the module an LED flash, as well as the macro sensor of the Redmi 9.
All details of the upcoming Redmi 9 series have been released via Lazada
The screen of the Redmi Note 8 Pro is supposedly reused in the Redmi 9, with the same 6.53-inch format and its Full HD + resolution (2,340 x 1,080). As expected, Xiaomi’s Redmi 9 is made entirely of plastic.
At the thickest point with the Redmi 9 about 9.1mm, which is appropriate because of its 5,020 mAh battery, which can be charged with a maximum of 18 watts. Internally you will also find a MediaTek Helio G80 chipset and eMMC 5.1 storage memory with the Redmi 9 and Xiaomi has made the choice for LPDDR4X RAM.
If the leaked information turns out to be correct, then the Redmi 9 includes four cameras on the back, starting with a 13 MP main camera, an 8 MP sensor with a wide-angle lens, 2 MP depth camera, and finally a 5 MP macro sensor.
Upfront, just as was the case on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, we find an 8 MP selfie camera in the waterdrop notch. Finally, the device is equipped with a 3.5 mm audio port and the device will be delivered at launch with Android 10 and MIUI 11. An update to the new MIUI 12 is expected after the launch of the Redmi 9.
The device offers, in terms of design, many similarities with the Redmi Note 8 Pro
We probably do not have to wait long for the launch, since the product pages at Philippine webshops are already ready. According to the web store, which leaked out all the details, the Redmi 9 would be available in two storage configurations:
2 GB of working and 32 GB storage memory, or a version of the Redmi 9 with 4 GB working and 64 GB storage memory. Prices at the web store start at 6,990 Philippine Peso, converted about 125 euros excluding taxes. For the Redmi 9 with more working and storage memory, you pay converted 140 euros (7,990 Philippine Peso).
Whether the Redmi 9 will also come to Belgium or the Netherlands is still unknown. Belsimpel is currently selling the Redmi 8 series, so it is likely that the Redmi 9 will eventually also end up in the Benelux. What the official recommended prices for Western markets will have to wait until the official launch. Do you expect the Redmi 9 to come to the Benelux? Let us know in the comments below the article.
